Asset class implementation gateway indicators

OO 10. Active ownership practices for listed assets

10.1. Select the active ownership activities your organisation implemented in the reporting year.

Listed equity – engagement

Listed equity – voting

10.3. Indicate why you do not cast your votes

We see voting as an essential part of active ownership and encourage our external managers to vote on our behalf in line with their ESG principles. However, we do not require them to do so and are not voting ourselves due to a lack of capacity. This ist why, for the future, we are considering a coopertion with a dedicated voting provider.

Fixed income SSA – engagement

Fixed income Corporate (financial) – engagement

Fixed income Corporate (non-financial) – engagement

Fixed income Corporate (securitised) – engagement

Please explain why you do not engage directly and do not require external managers to engage with companies on ESG factors.

As a specialised asset manager, our main objective is the satisfaction of our clients. While engagement is very useful, it can also be very time consuming for our portfolio managers. We believe that the efforts of our research partners and our derived deep analysis are enough to make very sensible investment decisions from an ESG perspective. This procedure is very cost-effective and a benefit for our clients.

11.4. Provide a brief description of how your organisation includes responsible investment considerations in your investment manager selection, appointment and monitoring processes.

Our portfolio managers meet with third party investment managers on a regular basis. During these meetings or conference calls we address if and how the manager implements ESG issues into the investment process. Usually, we aim for a long-term relationship with external managers. We are also constantly questioning and monitoring the managers' investment processes regarding ESG issues. For certain investments a convincing ESG approach is mandatory, otherwise we would not invest in these strategies.

11.5. For your externally managed pooled funds, describe any mechanisms in place to set expectations as part of the appointment or commitment process.
