The core objective of AXA IM – Real Assets is to achieve our clients’ required return on investment, while at the same time identifying both financial and non-financial risks and opportunities of those assets. We believe that sustainable real assets benefit from better long term yields. As such we fully integrate Environmental, Social and Governance criteria into our investment and asset management activities and processes. Our policy is that we take an integrated approach to responsible investment management, driving efforts to focus on three key pillars:
Decarbonisation, Resilience and Building Tomorrow.
On decarbonisation, we measure and monitor asset performance in line with Paris Agreement targets.
On resilience, using insight from the AXA Group, we identify and measure the physical and transitional risk and the impact of climate change on our assets.
On building tomorrow, we actively seek to create value and invest capital while building the foundations of tomorrows world.
In addition to taking a proactive approach to ESG, we engage in numerous industry working groups where our aim is to promote best practice. We take leading roles in the Urban Land Institute sustainability council, INREV Sustainability Committee, UNEP FI Property Working Group, IIGCC Property Group, GRESB Benchmark Committee, and the French Sustainable Building Observatory (OID).
To support these objectives, we have developed and use a number of tools/benchmarks to highlight performance: a dedicated data management platform, proprietary ESG ratings and action plans, environmental certifications (BREEAM, LEED etc) and GRESB participation.
