AIMCo is a member of Climate Action 100+ and is involved with two engagement initiatives.

AIMCo is an investor co-founder of the GRESB Infrastructure, and chairs the Infrastructure Advisory Board and is an observer member of the GRESB board. We are investor members of both GRESB Real Estate and GRESB Infrastructure. Our Real Estate group reports to the annual GRESB survey for sustainability benchmarking purposes. Select assets and funds are requested by our Infrastructure & Renewable Resources group to report to the survey.

AIMCo is the Co-Chair of the Shareholder Responsibility Committee (SHREC) and has contributed to several advocacy letters as an ICGN member. AIMCo co-authored the Guidance on Fiduciary Duty for Investors in 2018 and Guidance on Board Diversity in 2016.

AIMCo continues to participate in engagements and advocacy efforts led by SHARE.

          Responsible Investment Association (RIA Canada)

AIMCo participates in RIA initiatives in a variety of different capacities (ex. attendee, sponsor, partner or speaker) such as the annual conference and RI Week.

          Pension Investment Association of Canada (PIAC)

AIMCo has several PIAC members, who sit on various committees and we have been very active in contributing to PIAC responses to proposed changes to regulation and consultations such as the Government of Canada's Expert Panel on Sustainable Finance.

          Canadian Coalition of Good Governance (CCGG)

Our CEO Kevin Uebelein sits on the CCGG board of directors, chairs the Member Engagement Committee and is a member of the Governance Committee. AIMCo also sits on the E&S Committee examining the Governance of E&S. AIMCo provides input to companies covered by CCGG's engagement program with Canadian issuers.

          REALPAC & 30% Club Canada Chapter

REALPAC (Real Property Association of Canada): AIMCo sits on REALPAC's ESG Committee. REALPAC is the national industry association for Canada's real property sector.

30% Club Canada Chapter: AIMCo CEO Kevin Uebelein is a member of the 30% Club Canada Chapter which advocates for 30% of board seats to be held by women at Canadian issuers by 2022.

Description

          We taught two Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) course modules on Shareholder Engagement and ESG Reporting. We organized events/activities internally, including a water risk lunch panel for Responsible Investment Week in collaboration with industry and academia partners. We presented key ESG risks and opportunities regarding the cannabis industry to our peers at the 2019 Canadian ESG Peer Forum.

          We supported the Canadian Standard Association's (CSA) Group Green Taxonomy Initiative.

          We collaborated with MacEwan University and the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Canada on the Canada Foresight project. We often present to post-secondary classes on Responsible Investment.

          We co-wrote the Investor Leadership Network's - TCFD Implementation, Practical Insights and Perspectives from Behind the Scenes for Institutional Investors. We co-chair the International Corporate Governance Network's (ICGN) Shareholder Responsibility Committee. We contribute to letters, consultations and initiatives organized by the Pension Investment Association of Canada (PIAC). We collaborate with the Responsible Investment Association (RIA) in promoting ESG-themed events.

          We have spoken publicly at: ICGN's 2019 Conference, the RAAI 2019 Summit, Emissions Reduction Alberta's SPARK 2019, The Centre for Applied Business Research in Energy & the Environment's 2019 Electricity Symposium, The Canadian Alternative Investments for Pensions Conference 2019, the ICD Fall Governance Event 2019, Institutional Investor's 2019 Roundtable for Consultants & Institutional Investors, and CleanTechIQ's Forum on Managing Climate Risks/Decarbonization.

          We have written internal-only whitepapers on cannabis and the business case for Responsible Investment.
