GAMCO Investors, Inc. (NYSE: GBL) was founded by Mario J. Gabelli as an institutional research firm in 1976. In 1977 the firm began managing institutional assets and then launched its first investment partnership in 1985, its first mutual fund in 1986, and first closed end fund in 1987. We began managing our first Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) separate account in 1987. We are a research driven, fundamental active investment manager. As of December 31, 2019 the firm including its various affiliates manages over $36.475 billion in discretionary assets.
