METROPOLE Gestion is a small asset manager by the size of the AUM. Therefore it is more difficult than large asset managers to be involved as a leader. Nevertheless our engagement is extremely active specifically in having beeing very early in the process of implementing ESG approach in a large majority of our AUM since 2008, and in the engagement we currently conduct with companies in order to make them improving their goals and practices in ESG and climate related approaches.

Our academic collaboration with the University of Auvergne paves the way for developing a long-term response to the dichotomy between corporate social responsibility and valuation. This collaboration was enhanced with the launch in 2012 of the "Value and Corporate Social Responsibility" Research Chair. METROPOLE Gestion is a founding partner of the new Chair with Michelin and Caisse d'Epargne d'Auvergne et Limousin, and a french institutional investor, Maif.

SG 10. Promoting RI independently

10.2. Indicate the actions your organisation has taken to promote responsible investment independently of collaborative initiatives. Provide a description of your role in contributing to the objectives of the selected action and the typical frequency of your participation/contribution.

Description

          We publish on a quarterly basis an ESG letter sent to all our clients.
We publish on a monthly basis reporting for our equity funds on ESG ratings of the portfolios comparing to their benchmarks, CO2 emissions of the portfolios comparing to their benchmarks. On a yearly basis we provide engagement reports and impact reports. On demand we provide a climate score for our portfolios.

We organise education and training within our team ( fund managers team, sales team more specifically) with the Clermont Auvergne University.

          Research collaboration with the University of Auvergne from 2010 to 2012 to establish our own proprietary standards and ESG rating system.
Sponsorship programme with the University of Auvergne Foundation to launch the Value and Corporate Social Responsibility Research Chair from 2012 to 2016, extended for a further 4 years in 2016 (2016-2020), financing research grants.
