Describe how your organisation outlines expectations on staff and portfolio companies’ approach towards ESG issues in investment activities.
It is a requirement that ESG matters relevant to a portfolio company are understood and reviewed prior to acquisition. Allegro engages third party advisers to assist with identifying "gaps" between current portfolio company practice and relevant best practice with respect to ESG matters, and steps to close these gaps. These are then built into ownership transition plans as well as ongoing asset management approaches.
Reviewing ESG matters is a standard requirement for all investment opportunities presented to the investment committee for approval. Further, once acquired, ESG matters and management plans are owned by the board of the relevant portfolio company.
