We are an active participant in CA 100+. We have led engagements with several companies, i.e. ArcelorMittal, CEZ and others. We are co-leading one of the CA100+ engagements and are part of several other engagement groups pushing companies on GHG target setting, board remuneration and transparency on their lobbying activities. We also support more work like co-writing investor expectation guides, research papers as well as being represented in various working groups to provide input and expertise.

We also lead one company engagement of the Eumedion platform and are part of at least 3 other engagements with Dutch stock listed companies.

We also support more work like co-writing investor expectation guides, research papers as well as being represented in various working groups to provide input and expertise.

Our NL CIO is represented in the Eumedion daily board since December 2019.

          RI Principles Training for clients and employees. Hosted a PRI forum and an investment impact seminar. Also met with German counterpart BVI to exchange ideas.

Description

          Active, both as member and as chair, in the Investment Leaders Group (ILG) at Cambridge. The latter combines academic insights (Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership) and practical use via its member (ILG/asset managers / -owners), conducts and publishes joint research (e.g. on sustainable finance, metrics etc.) and acts as both an academic and industry platform to engage and influence (EU) regulatory and legislative bodies and industry peers. Also conducting academic research on engagement as part of the Erasmus Sustainable Platform for Value Creation.

          Publicly endorsed the TCFD recommendations and active member ((vice) chair) of DUFAS. Signed Dutch climate agreement geared to reduce Dutch GHG emissions to Paris-compliant levels. As part of DUFAS we were also involved in the following:
1) Climate – Dufas issued press statement on AM industry’s take on the Dutch Climate Agreement and industry’s Climate Commitment. Main role AM industry to 1) support clients in achieving their ambitions/obligations, 2) create climate transparency re. clients’ investments via reporting based on global/EU standards and 3) draft long-term investment strategies for clients in support of the Dutch National Climate Agreement.
2) Climate – organise implementation of Climate Commitment – liaise with other industry organisations to define planning / objectives.
3) Consultations – response to consultations re. beloningsbeleid1, EU taxonomy, EU Ecolabelling, Capital Markets Union, Wetsvoorstel uitbreiding meldplichten aandeelhouders 2.

2) Key note speaker EYe on Asset Management seminar – on behalf of Dufas / AAM presenting key industry trends re. RI.
3) Van Wijk, representing the ILG, celebrated the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) 30th anniversary at the
Buckingham Palace in the presence of CISL’s patron, HRH Prince Charles.
4) We presented Aegon’s take on climate scenario analysis during Ortec’s London event on climate scenario analysis.
5) We represented AAM at DNB’s roundtable discussion with asset managers on sustainable investment and
financing
6) Represented Aegon on request GPA at European Financial Services Round Table (EFR) in workshop on sustainable
finance/climate and discuss merit and demerit of regulation complement efforts to create a more sustainable economy.
7) Participated in European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) consultation on climate-related reporting information. 
8) GRESB – speaker on the 2019 GRESB Real Estate Results conference in London addressing ESG inclusion in real estate.
9) GIIN Impact Investor forum – spoke on panel about TCFD and importance of climate disclosures
10) StepUp Now – spoke at event hosted by Cambridge Sustainability Leaders / StepUp Now at EU Parliament on the importance of an ‘EU Green Deal” and collaborative climate action

We have engaged with public policy-makers or regulators on various issues;

  • Technical Expert Group (TEG) delivered their report on sustainable taxonomy, green bonds and climate benchmarks. AAM responded to earlier TEG’s consultation on the usability of the taxonomy; remarks consistent with EFAMA’s response.
  • Dufas responding on consultation EU Joint Research Centre consultation on the Development of EU Ecolabel
