FMO, together with Netherlands-based companies Essent, Eneco, Desso and forest carbon project developer and investor Althelia Climate Fund, has been working towards the offtake of forest carbon credits from the Peruvian Tambopata project. The Dutch REDD+ Business Initiative, as this group of companies is called, is a program that aims to address deforestation and forest degradation by promoting the demand side of forest carbon credits. The program was launched under the leadership of the Platform for Biodiversity, Ecosystems and Economies. The Platform is a joint initiative of the Dutch Confederation of Employers and Investors (VNO-NCW) and the IUCN National Committee of The Netherlands, with funding from the Dutch Ministry for Economic Affairs.
