SAM 08. Percentage of externally managed assets managed by PRI signatories

08.1. Describe how you ensure that best RI practice is applied to managing your assets

Measures

The Investment Consultant regularly engages with existing investment managers regarding expected RI practices, covering topics like integration, voting and engagement. Key areas, such as policies, procedures and statistics on proxy voting and engagement activities are continually assessed.
We have set expectations for how underlying managers should undertake their responsibilities, for example the expectation that they will have a detailed proxy voting process and vote on all relevant items where possible. In the event they were not meeting our expectations this would be a topic for discussion and engagement with the manager, with the objective of this being that the manager will improve. Where a manager does not act in line with our expectations, it could be grounds for terminating the manager.

Measures

All else being equal, managers with stronger RI practices are favoured.
