In September 2018, Chicago became the first city in the world to become a signatory to the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI). 

          The Midwest Investors Diversity Initiative (“MIDI”)

The City Treasurer is a member of MIDI, a coalition of institutional investors dedicated to increasing racial, ethnic, and gender diversity on corporate boards of companies headquartered in Midwestern states. The City Treasurer meets with MIDI members monthly and participates in calls and letters to board members and CEOs to promote board diversity in the Midwest. 

          The Thirty Percent Coalition

The City Treasurer is a member of the Thirty Percent Coalition, an organization dedicated to promoting gender diversity, including women of color, on corporate boards.

Description

          The Office of the City Treasurer staff takes phone calls and meetings with various institutions and stakeholders to provide RI support and share RI processes and procedures. The office has provided RI information regarding the ESG providers we utilize to the State of Illinois Treasury Office and Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association.
