SG 07. RI roles and responsibilities

07.1. Indicate the internal and/or external roles used by your organisation, and indicate for each whether they have oversight and/or implementation responsibilities for responsible investment.

07.2. For the roles for which you have RI oversight/accountability or implementation responsibilities, indicate how you execute these responsibilities.

Board:

Has the overall oversight of responsible investment activities and approves company strategies and policies on the area, including the investment policy of the firm which contains segments on responsible investment.

CEO/CIO:

Has the overall oversight and responsibility to ensure that the company's strategies and policies regarding responsible investment are implemented properly. Formulates annual targets and goals for the investment organization and follows up on these targets and goals.

Portfolio managers and investment analysts (PM:s are classified as dedicated responsible investment staff):

Are held accountable for the composition of the funds, including exposure to ESG risks and opportunities and report to the CEO/CIO. They are also responsible for implementation of the tools and resources in this area, as defined by the CEO/CIO and the Responsible Investment Board.

Responsible Investment Board:

Supports the investment organization on issues regarding sustainability and acts as a governing body to verify that fund managers are taking sustainability issues into account and that they receive ongoing training in these matters.

Although we do not have a dedicated ESG/Responsible investment specialist at Carnegie Fonder, all portfolio managers (15), together with the council for responsible investments (5 excluding PM representative), work with ESG matters on a daily basis. Fund managers and analysts are responsible for integrating ESG issues in their investment process using the responsible investment resources that we have within Carnegie Fonder, but are also responsible for, and instrumental in, conducting both reactive and proactive company engagements.

The board has the overall oversight of responsible investment activities and approves company strategies and policies on the area, including the investment policy of the firm which contains segments on responsible investment, of which climate-related issues is a part..

07.7 CC. For management-level roles that assess and manage climate-related issues, provide further information on the structure and processes involved.

Management (CEO/CIO) and the Responsible Investment Board ultimately decides on the firm's view, strategy, tools and resources available to assess and act on climate-related issues, including but not limited to exclusion of certain sectors and the development of a proprietary framework used by the investment organization which includes a specific section on climate-related issues.
