PE 05. Incorporating ESG issues when selecting investments

05.1. During due-diligence indicate if your organisation typically incorporates ESG issues when selecting private equity investments.

05.2. Describe your organisation`s approach to incorporating ESG issues in private equity investment selection.

Our investment selection is strictly based on our ability to implement the following tenets of our investment strategy:

1) Alignment - success is dependent on the alignment of interests - not just financially, but socially and culturally

2) Patient Capital - a long term investment requires a long-term outlook, and as such must address the potential challenges of a changing environment and the careful examination of innovation and opportunities for growth in the mining sector for decades to come.

3) Relationships - strong relationship developed over 30+ years

4) De-Risking - Our unique, socially responsible and holistic view of de-risking is central to our strategy to unlock the true value of an asset.

5) Management - by working with, and re-engineering (if necessary) management teams we can easily influence positive leadership practices, independent board representation, corporate culture and strategy.

6) Shared Vision - our experience provides a deep understanding of the entire picture of a resource project, ensuring a shared vision is upheld.

7) Active Advisory Role - by maintaining an active advisory role, we maintain involvement in all processes.

8) Importance of a Social License - the management of ESG issues is critical to maintaining a social license to operate, which in our view is essential when seeking superior long-term returns.

9) Project budgeting - our team only employs reputable, quality engineers and financiers.

10) Credibility - we are known and respected in the industry and as such only choose to partner with those that hold equal standards. Such standards further bring credibility to businesses we choose to partner with.
