Asief Mohamed, Aeon Investment Management's Chief Investment Officer, in collaboration with the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) and the Financial Sector Transformation Council (FSTC), makes submissions and proposals to Parliament on the amendments to Draft Bills. The commentaries submitted for these Draft Bills drive awareness and action to social and governance issues in South Africa. As an example, Aeon Investment Management submitted commentary for the amendment to the Companies Act 71 of 2008. One of the suggestions we made was for the Act to make it a requirement for companies to disclose their current and five-year historical Pay ratio and Gender Pay Gap.
We believe that collaborative engagements often yield far better results than single-company engagements. We participated in two major collaborative engagements in the prior year and are currently in the process of collaborating with the PRI on a social engagement to drive increased global disclosure of the Pay ratio and the Gender Pay Gap.
