City of London Investment Group PLC (CLIG) is the holding company of City of London Investment Management Company Limited (CLIM) and is an established asset management group which built its reputation by specialising in emerging market closed-end fund investment, with an institutional client focus.

In recent years CLIM has expanded its range to include Developed, Frontier and Opportunistic Value closed-end fund strategies.Its most recent addition, a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) strategy, which shares many similarities to the closed end fund products, launched in January 2019.

City of London Investment Management Group plc (CLIG), whose principal subsidary is City of London Investment Management Company Limited (CLIM), was founded in 1991. CLIM's first overseas office was opened on the US East coast in 1997. A further three offices have since been opened in Singapore (2000), Dubai (2007) and the US West coast (2015). CLIG was admitted to AIM in 2006 and to the official list of the LSE in 2010.

CLIM's AUM comprises investments principally in listed closed-end funds. CLIM generally remains fully invested, while maintaining small cash balances to deploy when opportunities arise. The emerging markets strategy represents 74% of AUM, developed markets 18%, opportunistic value 4% and frontier markets 3%.
