Miller/Howard Investments, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned, independent, SEC-registered investment boutique that began managing equity portfolios for institutions and individuals in dividend-focused strategies in 1991. The firm invests in quality stocks with strong balance sheets, governance and fundamentals, and the ability to grow dividends.  We integrate ESG analysis with financial analysis in our pursuit of companies with strong commitments to high operational standards, the environment, social responsibility, and good governance; we believe doing so provides a framework for achieving suitable risk profiles and long-term investment returns while building sustainable global economies and markets. As part of our shareholder advocacy and risk mitigation efforts, we actively engage companies on material ESG issues to help them see a more sustainable future and long-term profitability.

In November 2018, Miller/Howard converted to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) structure.  The ESOP will hold in trust, through an institutional trustee, all of the company equity exclusively for the benefit of all current and future employees. Indeed, the employees will no longer be simply employees—every employee will have the economic benefits of stock ownership and a stake in the continued success of the firm. In an ESOP, the company continues to operate as before, with no changes to the investment team, investment process or philosophy.
