RARE Infrastructure is a specialist investment manager of global listed infrastructure securities established in August 2006. In May 2019, the RARE Group became wholly owned by Legg Mason. Under this ownership structure, RARE operates as an independent investment affiliate within the Legg Mason Group of managers.

At this time RARE also announced a formal business collaboration with Legg Mason’s affiliate manager, ClearBridge Investments, LLC (ClearBridge), to promote operational efficiencies and enhance growth opportunities across each firm.

RARE's Offices

RARE has three regional Australian offices (Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane). Through our affiliation with ClearBridge and Legg Mason, RARE has dedicated distribution channels in North America, the UK, Europe and Asia.

RARE’s Organisational Structure
As at 31 December 2019, RARE employed 41 staff, comprising 13 in the investment team, 6 in distribution and 22 in investment operations, legal, risk and compliance, trading, marketing and other support roles.
