Xeraya recognises its provenance out of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, which is itself a PRI signatory, and also of the responsibility faced when managing investment capital, be it from public or private funds, that investing responsibly with an overt social and an ethical dimension is incumbent.

Xeraya is envisioned to provide agile, capital support via venture capital and private equity to catalyse life sciences breakthroughs and bring life changing innovations to human wellbeing. In investment mode, Xeraya has a three-pronged, yet simple vision; react quickly to opportunities, take a long-term view on investments, and ensure partner companies make a difference to the lives of Malaysians and people around the world.

01.5. Provide a brief description of the key elements, any variations or exceptions to your investment policy that covers your responsible investment approach. [Optional]

At Xeraya, we structurally integrate ESG factors into our investment decision making process. Xeraya recognises the importance of incorporating ESG considerations into all stages of the investment process and is committed to consider material ESG issues in the course of its due diligence prior to making its investment and to include ESG considerations as standard practice in investment meeting and committee discussions.

The sustainability performance of companies can impact their ability to create long term value for investors, and therefore we consider ESG integration an important instrument to improve the risk-return profile of the investments we make. The focus is on ESG factors that are material from a financial or risk point of view. The investments team and others involved in the process of assessing a potential investment opportunity and involved in the deliberations to approve an investment decision will determine and exercise the collective institutional discretion as to the level of ESG integration at each portfolio company.
