Out of a total of 666 engagement interactions recorded by the Stewardship Teams globally for the period, there were 102 companies with more than one interaction, and 13 with 3 or more interactions. The largest recorded number of interactions was 6, with a large European pharmaceutical company. Please note these figures are for dedicated ESG engagements, and do not include ESG discussions in investor-led or scheduled 1-2-1 meetings.

ESG engagements are typically initiated either by letter, or as part of a scheduled 1-2-1 meeting. These will then usually be followed up with a dedicated ESG meeting, either with non-executive directors, committee chairs, or CSR specialists where they exist. Larger listed companies also now undertake ESG roadshows, in parallel to their main investor roadshows. We will attend these when we are a material shareholder, or if there is a new or ongoing issue we wish to discuss.
