Responsible investment is an integral part of ACTIAM's investment philosophy, investment process and business strategy. As a responsible asset and fund manager the sustainability of real estate is an important and logical step. ACTIAM takes sustainability criteria in high regard, within the own organization premises, as well as in its investment properties. The real estate portfolio consists of direct real estate, indirect real estate and private equity interests real estate-related companies. We strive for constant improvement of properties in term of environmental and social aspects. In addition, we also encourage (green) initiatives such as Green Storm, a green mortgage bond.

The footprint of the real estate sector is considerable. The built environment is responsible for a large part of the global CO2- emissions and thus has an important impact on climate change. Also, the massive use of raw materials and the emission of harmful substances contribute to the footprint. That footprint remains in existence after the building has been taken into use. ACTIAM recognizes such impact and work actively towards higher efficiency of its property investments.
