In 2019, the Sustainable and Impact Investing team attended the PRI Half-day Workshop in NYC, the PRI  3-day forum in Paris, and scheduled two one-on-one meetings with PRI staff to discuss the Reporting process and additional areas of collaboration.

In 2019, Glenmede Participated in Gender Lens Working Group, shared Glenmede-authored gender lens primer with GIIN network on International Women's Day to ensure knowledge sharing. We also led a webinar for the GIIN Gender Lens Investing Working Group.

Glenmede joined Ceres in 2019 and participated in the Ceres conference to help inform the development of our shareholder engagement agenda.

GIM published a SASB case study describing the application of ESG Momentum to our impact strategies. We also attended the SASB Symposium and featured SASB at an internal training for our impact experts.

Glenmede published a gender lens investing primer for endowments and foundations via IEN and presented findings at the IEN Higher Education Summit.

Description

          Oversaw firmwide training to over 30 staff on sustainable and impact investing themes. Led a gender lens investing educational webinar for the Global Impact Investing Network as well as for Exponent Philanthropy. Taught an impact investing introduction class at Haverford College. Glenmede employees lead the Philadelphia chapter of Women Investing in Sustainable Economies (WISE).

          Participated in shareholder resolutions focused on greater transparency and disclosure via As You Sow. The Sustainable and Impact Investing team also regularly speaks about the power of shareholder engagement- including increased disclosures- in combating climate change.

          The Glenmede team has collectively participated in over 40 speaking engagements on panels, at conferences, and at networking sessions in 2019.  Highlighted speaking events include the SRI Conference on impact measurement, NEXUS conference on shareholder engagement around climate change, CFA Diversity & Inclusion conference on gender lens investing, and Total Impact Conference on high-impact private investments. Annually, Glenmede hosts an impact investing series, which explores public and private market strategies committed to improving the lives of women, enhancing environmental sustainability, and encouraging socially responsible businesses.

          As a means of fostering knowledge about the impact investing discipline, Glenmede has sponsored Impactivate®,  a website featuring articles from journalists and thought leaders who provide insights on the environmental, social and governance continuum, from developing technologies in agriculture and renewable energy to faith-based and gender-lens investing.

Glenmede is deeply committed to sustainable and impact investing initiatives, whether through the sponsorship of a Sustainable Development Goal mural in Philadelphia focused on empowering women and girls to hosting an annual impact investing event in New York City featuring the President of the Global Impact Investing Network, the head of impact measurement for Actis, and the Managing Director of DBL Partners. Glenmede also sponsors ImpactPHL, a collaborative organization connecting impact investors, venture firms, social entrepreneurs, and advisors based in Philadelphia, to build upon best practices and contribute to a community positioning Philadelphia as a sustainable and impact investing hub.
