The Investment Director is responsible for overseeing each portfolio's risk and style characteristics, including ESG characteristics. The Investment Director uses a variety of measures of statistical risk, style analysis and decision-making consistency to provide a complete picture. These observations are formally monitored in the quarterly portfolio review meeting specific to each strategy. The Investment Director also centrally co-ordinates access to external resources in order to solve ESG issues raised by teams.

At present, JOHCM does not have a dedicated ESG/sustainable investing team. Pendal Group Limited, our parent company, owns Regnan which is an Australian based long standing provider of ESG research and consulting. We believe that clients are better served if issues such as ESG are incorporated into the fund management decision making process. Where expertise is needed on specific issues we can source this internally from Regnan, who are world leading ESG experts, or from external providers.

Upcoming ESG product launch

In December 2019, JOHCM announced the launch of a Global Equity Impact strategy through our socially responsible and impact investment affiliate Regnan, following the appointment of a Global Equity Impact investment team. The newly-hired four-person team will be based in JOHCM's London office. There will be dedicated ESG/sustainable hires on the back of this team and for future strategic growth of our responsible investing initiatives.
