SG 07. RI roles and responsibilities

07.1. Indicate the internal and/or external roles used by your organisation, and indicate for each whether they have oversight and/or implementation responsibilities for responsible investment.

Select from the below internal roles

07.2. For the roles for which you have RI oversight/accountability or implementation responsibilities, indicate how you execute these responsibilities.

Oversight of ESG integration and responsible investment resides with LBA's Management Committee and, ultimately, with its Board of Directors, who set the risk, integrity and compliance culture of the firm.

All portfolio managers and analysts are responsible for ensuring that each material ESG consideration is incorporated into the analysis and selection of each investment, investigating material environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities facing companies in their coverage universe, and including such issues in each investment thesis presented to the investment committee. Specialization by global industry sector facilitates our industry experts’ understanding of the business models, economic context, issues and trends that are most material to each sector within an international framework.

In addition, to ensure that all key ESG issues and controversies are captured, a dedicated investment professional (“ESG Lead”) conducts an independent verification by reviewing third-party ESG research to ensure that every material issue is discussed and understood by the investment committee. The ESG Lead also conducts a semi-annual review of all investee companies.

We consider ourselves to be long-term partners of our investee companies, and over the years LBA has developed a very strong culture of engagement. Transparent and candid discussions with company management teams on all relevant issues, including ESG issues, are consistent with our investment philosophy and essential to our in-depth research process.

07.3. Indicate the number of dedicated responsible investment staff your organisation has.

1 Number

07.4. Additional information. [Optional]

Each investment professional is responsible for investigating material environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities facing companies in their coverage universe and including such issues in the investment thesis presented to the investment committee. In addition, to ensure that all material ESG issues have been identified and researched, a dedicated Senior Portfolio Manager (our ESG Lead) conducts an independent review of the material ESG issues, including a review of third-party ESG research, and ensures that each of the material issues is presented to the investment committee. Thereafter, the ESG Lead conducts a semi-annual ESG review of all investee companies.

The ESG Lead has responsibility for ensuring responsible investment principles are integrated into the investment process throughout the firm. However, as described above, all members of the investment team have a responsibility to ensure that ESG factors are incorporated into each investment analysis, and to be active owners.
