The firm is a specialist asset manager with offerings in hedge funds, balanced funds and long-only equity both in South Africa and offshore with the objective of generating low volatility returns in the medium to long term with capital preservation as a priority. Fundamental research forms the basis of all asset selection based on the belief that the market misprices assets continually and the rewards are significant for those few who are diligent with the fundamentals and appropriate portfolio weightings.

Our Team structure is made of 11 individuals.

1. Shane Watkins: Chief Investment officer and has an office in Cape Town, South Africa; however, spends at least 3 days a week in the head office based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

2. Richard Shepard: Co-Portfolio Manager for the Global Emerging Markets Team which is based in Cape Town, South Africa.

3. Neal Smit: Portfolio Manager for the Global Emerging Markets Team based in Cape Town, South Africa.

4. Sanelisiwe Tofile: based in Johannesburg serving as the deputy Chief Investment Officer.

5. Patsy David: based in Johannesburg serving as Head of Research.

6. Dumisani Ndlovu: based in Johannesburg serving as Equity Analyst.

7. Prince Mopai: based in Johannesburg serving as Equity Analyst.

8. Gomolemo Seete: based in Johannesburg serving as Equity Analyst (specialising in Environmental, Social and Governance Research).

9. Mark Scholefield: based in Johannesburg serving as Fund Accountant and Operations Manager.

10. Mmakgotso Mogoane: based in Johannesburg serving as Business Development officer.

11. Chante Mntuyedwa: based in Johannesburg serving as Portfolio Assistant/ Fund Accountant.

 

All Weather also has the Executive Chairman, John Olifant, as well as Fulu Makwetla (Non-Executive Director) based in Johannesburg in shared offices.

On the board is the above mentioned John Olifant, Fulu Makwetla, Shane Watkins and Barbara van Metzinger.

All Weather Capital's asset mixed is still largely listed equities with a portion allocated to hedge fund strategies applied to the management of the funds.

A portion of our total AUM as All Weather Capital lies in the newly introduced Global Emerging Markets fund (Managed by Neal Smith and Richard Sheperd); 

The fund makes about R280 million of AWC's total AUM:

8.8% of this amount (R280m) is invested in Development Markets; and 91.2% of  the amount (R280m) is invested in Global Emerging Markets.
