We reported on our annual responsible investment activity as well as attending some of the forums in South Africa, alongside the CFA Institute.

We further joined the collaborative forum in South Africa.

We attended the launch of the annual CDP reports we were able to engage with the CDP on the methodology and process of scoring.

We have incorporated CRISA into our investment process. We also have a policy outlining how we are implementing the CRISA principles in our investment process.

Our CEO sits on the board of ASISA (Association for Savings and Investment South Africa) where CRISA was birthed and therefore we are on the forefront of what is happening in our industry in South Africa.

Description

          We have been requested at times by some of our larger clients to provide training to them on our ESG process. They have incorporated some of our initiatives into their process.

          As part of CRISA and ASISA our management team is involved in ensuring that the investment industry in South Africa is improving its performance and transparency with regards to responsible investment.

          Our mining analyst has been on multiple panel and conferences specifically talking about how we apply ESG considerations in that sector.

          In 2020 we will launch our first thematic research paper focused on the Just Transition and climate change in the energy sector and impact on metals and mining sector as well as oil and gas.

          As part of our sector specific ESG scorecards we do encourage our portfolio companies that are involved in investment management to consider becoming a signatory to the UNPRI.
