Gjensidigestiftelsen integrates responsible investment considerations in all stages of the investment decision-making process.
When looking for new investment opportunities, Gjensidigestiftelsen assesses the approach to ESG and SDGs in each strategy. If our research and due diligence process conclude that potential investments don’t meet our expectations, including ESG integration, these potential investments are discarded,
In-dept ESG analyses are performed when we are considering new investments. When meeting with external fund managers or companies, ESG themes and results from our ESG analyses are an integral part of the due diligence process. Gjensidigestiftelsen has a clear strategy for investing responsibly and we bring this up with external managers to make sure their directives align with what we expect. All dialog is conducted by portfolio managers.
ESG issues are also monitored at the portfolio level. In addition to continuous monitoring by portfolio managers through our risk system, we perform a formal complete ESG-screening of Gjensidigestiftelsens portfolio, looking in detail at every position. Any significant finding will drive engagement. If the engagement doesn’t yield result over time, divestment will be considered. Severe breaches combined with low compliance will trigger a sale faster than less severe breaches that's a work in progress.
In addition to the way of considering ESG issues in the investment making process described above. Gjensidigestiftelsen have specific resources devoted to sustainability themed investments. The sustainability themed investments are, as it stands now, a part of the foundations private equity mandate and include investments in agriculture, healthcare and micro-finance.
