The ESG team is composed of three members (1 partner, 1 investment director and 1 associate), appointed within the investment team. Its role is to sensitize the entire workforce to the ESG issues and to deliver in-house training throughout the investment process:
- Before investment: the ESG team suggests several issues to consider, related to the target’s characteristics, which are classified in a document accessible to the whole team. The risks and opportunities are subsequently addressed within the investment committee report ;
- During the investment:By generating debate on ESG issues during Supervisory Board meetings: the investment team can measure the progress made by the companies and work on possible action plans thanks to an annual ESG reporting completed by each company of our portfolio;
- By supporting or taking part in joint initiatives with them.
Moreover, the ESG team asks, each year, the portfolio companies to fulfil the ESG report which is a set of ESG KPIs. Through this data collection, the ESG and deals team can measure progresses that have been made by portfolio companies.
The ESG team organize also one to two internal training sessions per year. These sessions are focused on MBO Partenaires’ objectives in term of ESG (good practices…). Moreover, ESG specific issues (and way to solve them) can be discussed during internal committee, every two weeks.
In 2018, PwC (external service providers) managed a training session for the whole team and assists the ESG team in 2019 in the compliance of its ESG policy and the creation of a roadmap for the next years.
