CCLA is one of the largest investment managers for not for profit organisations in the UK. We are owned by our clients and have a 50 year track record of delivering good investment returns to our clients. Through this we have developed an unrivalled expertise and commitment to ethical and responsible investment. This commitment continues to run through everything that we do.
We also recognise that CCLA can play a role in encouraging higher responsible investment standards in the financial markets. For this reason, we launched the 'Aiming for A' shareholder engagement initiative in 2012. This brought together a leading group of investors to engage with the UK's largest systemically important emittors. This programme set a new norm for corporate engagement on climate change and led, in part, to the Climate Action 100+ initiative that is now backed by investors with over $33trillion in assets under management. We continue to see the power of collaborative engagement and dedicate substantial resource to co-ordinating joint investor action.
We continue to look for the next area that CCLA can take a lead. For this reason, we will be developing a new collaborative engagement programme on modern slavery in the coming year.
