Because Canadian regulators have not yet mandated a mandatory vote on executive compensation, we worked with like-minded shareholders in Canada to get select issuers to voluntarily adopt an advisory vote on executive compensation.
Through direct engagement, the group targeted ten companies that would benefit from feedback that an advisory vote on compensation provides. BCI was the lead on three of the engagements. The majority of the engagements were carried out via conference calls with some via face to face meetings. Five companies have agreed to adopt an advisory vote on compensation in 2019.
