RARE Infrastructure is a specialist investment manager of global listed infrastructure securities established in August 2006. On 21 October 2015, global asset manager Legg Mason completed the acquisition of a 75% majority equity interest in the RARE Group and increased its ownership to 85% on 10 October 2018. RARE senior management and investment staff have retained a 15% equity interest. Under this ownership structure, RARE continues to operate as an independent investment affiliate within the Legg Mason Group of managers.

RARE's Offices

RARE has three regional Australian offices (Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane). Through Legg Mason, RARE has dedicated distribution channels in North America, the UK, Europe and Asia.

RARE’s Organisational Structure
As at 31 December 2018, RARE employed 48 staff, comprising 14 in the investment team, 8 in distribution and 26 in investment operations, legal, risk and compliance, trading, marketing and other support roles.
