As a responsible investor, BaltCap asks their portfolio companies to complete a thorough environmental, social and corporate governance (“ESG”) questionnaire every year. This is done in addition to its regular monitoring of the company as an active leading shareholder. Questions are reviewed annually and new indicators are added occasionally. Based on these answers, we compile our own ESG report that is sent out to all investors. Every portfolio company receives an individual feedback report to monitor their performance and development across different indicators.
This self-assessment questionnaire serves two purposes. Firstly, it`s a guiding tool for portfolio companies to consider wider scope of aspects in their business decisions. We can create long-term value to all stakeholders only by combining excellent financial performance with responsible and sustainable business practices. Secondly, it gives an input for creating a public ESG preformance report of our whole portfolio - an opportunity to show our joint contribution to the development of Baltic society and economy.
The questionnaire has gone through several changes during the years. This time we are happy to introduce a completely renewed version aiming at simplicity and better user experience. It follows similar structure through different categories, and has 80 questions compared to 103 in the previous year. The 2018 report will be uploaded to our website in April/May 2019.
