The Fonds de solidarité FTQ (The Fonds) is a Labor-sponsored Investment Fund created under an Act of the Parliament of Québec, the Loi constituant le Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec (F.T.Q.), first adopted in 1983.
The Fonds is a union-based development capital investment fund. The Fonds endeavours to collect the savings of Quebecers who want to participate in creating and maintaining jobs, in order to improve the situation of workers and to stimulate the Québec economy. In addition to financing Québec-based companies, the Fonds' mission also includes raising awareness and encouraging workers to save for retirement as well as providing economic training to workers. The Fonds' mission is supported with tax credit by both levels of government (Québec and Canada).
Its fiscal year runs from June 1 to May 31. As of May 31, 2018, the Fond's net assets anounted to CAN$14.3 billion, it was invested in 2,839 partner companies, mostly SMEs. More than 667,417 quebeckers were shareholders
