In the investment process, a.s.r. pays special attention to impact investing to make a sustainable contribution to society, for instance, through waste recycling, renewable energy (solar and wind), social enterprises or contributing to health improvements. In 2018, a.s.r. set the target of increasing impact investments for its own account at € 300 million per year to € 1.2 billion of impact investments in 2021.

Outcomes

By the end of 2018, a.s.r. exposure to listed and non-listed impact investments addressing specific environmental or societal needs stood at over € 300 million.

An example is the investment in SDG 7 via an energy efficiency fund.

Another example is the investment in SDGs 2, 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13 and 14, via an energy transition fund to migrate from fossil fuels to biochemical-based sources.
