Pencarrow seeks out opportunities to invest in companies where:
• There is a track record of positive and growing earnings;
• There is opportunity to deploy $10 million to $40 million of capital;
• We can partner with experienced management teams taking stakes of between 20% and 80% alongside management;
• They are well-positioned within industries with attractive dynamics (competitive, supply, channel,
environment) and favourable prospects;
• There is strong potential for future growth and increasing yield; and
• They are domiciled in New Zealand or Australia or have head offices located in New Zealand or
Australia.
We are disciplined investors and seek to:
• Avoid portfolio concentration. Investment in any one portfolio company is limited to 20% of Committed Capital;
• Avoid turnaround investments;
• Invest for the long term;
• Avoid highly cyclical, capital intensive industries; and
• Exclude companies or sectors that do not meet United Nations Principles of Responsible Investing (PRI), such as the manufacturing of tobacco, cluster munitions or nuclear weapons or the processing of whale meat.
