UBS AM is an active member of the following PRI coordinated groups:

  • Working group on sovereign fixed income
  • Working group on engaging with companies on the SDGs.
  • SDGs advisory committee
  • Academic network advisory committee

In addition, we are active members of the Climate Action 100+ coalition promoted by PRI, CERES, IIGCC, IGCC and AIGCC.

In 2018, we hosted a PRI workshop on the risk of plastic and spoke at 3 PRI coordinated events about integration across asset classes and climate change engagement.

Additionally, UBS AM has contributed to the recent CFA/PRI publication on integration in fixed income.

We regularly participated in their quarterly calls and joined collaborative efforts on a case by case basis.

We support the CDP as an investor member in their aim to improve company disclosure of risks and opportunities related to natural resources. In addition, UBS was a founding member in 2002. We continue to leverage and access research and data through the CDP portal.

We collaborated with CDP in a roadshow to our financial advisors in Italy in 2018. 

UBS AG  has been included in the A list for reporting in 2018.

UBS AM is part of GRESB's advisory board, the benchmark committee and the real estate debt advisory board.

In 2018 UBS AM participated in the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change ("IIGCC") working group on climate change scenario analysis and contributed to the final publication.

In addition, we are members of the IIGCC Climate Action 100+ Advisory Group for the mining sector and we are actively involved in Climate Action 100+ engagement activities in Europe with the oil&gas and utility sectors.

We monitored regular communications from ICGN and spoke at the 2018 ICGN annual conference’s last day focused on the Italian market UBS AM was also short listed for the IGCN award on stewardship disclosure.

We monitored regular communications and joined some webinars organised by IIRC. UBS Group AG published an integrated report in 2017 and used the IIRC framework as a reference.

We are actively involved in the Climate Action 100+ engagements in the US with the oil&gas and utility sectors.

We collaborated with the Italian SIF to conduct a training programme on ESG/SI for our financial advisors in Italy.

UBS has been a member since 1992 and UBS bank has actively participated in Pilot Project on Implementing the TCFD Recommendations. UBS-AM is a member of the UNEP Finance Initiative's Property Working Group.

Our Head of Global Sustainable Equities represents UBS-AM on the SASB Institutional Advisory Group. In addition, we contributed material to SASB including a case study that was published in 2018.

Description

          We have organised a number of client seminars during which we have provided an overview of our various ESG initiatives and practices.

Description

          UBS-AM is collaborating with Harvard School of Public Health, City University of New York and University of Wageningen on the development of science-based impact measurement methodologies for listed equities. UBS-AM is funding the research and is working closely together with the academics on development of the methodologies. The research was launched in February 2016.

          Our Global Sustainable Equity Lead Portfolio Manager, Bruno Bertocci, represents UBS on committees such as the Institutional Advisory Group for SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) as well as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures. 

In time, we believe SASB’s accounting standards will help inform globally accepted disclosure and reporting standards for all public companies.

          We publish ad-hoc articles in relevant magazines and collaborate with external platforms and publishers. In February 2018, a paper co-authored by Dr Dinah Koehler, analyst, UBS-AM Global Sustainable Equities team was published in Science magazine https://www.newsweek.com/future-esg-investing-environmental-social-governance-investment-strategies-1105172. In September 2018 UBS-AM collaborated with Newsweek as a lead contributor to a key research publication, Going Mainstream: The Future of ESG Investing https://www.newsweek.com/future-esg-investing-environmental-social-governance-investment-strategies-1105172, which was, and remains, published on their Vantage research platform. In October 2018 we published Sustainability Means Forward-Looking Investment Decisions at UBS in FTfm. UBS-AM's sustainable& impact investing activities received strong media coverage throughout the course of the year. In March 2018, Michael Baldinger was profiled in Finews https://www.finews.asia/finance/27138-michael-baldinger-ubs-asset-management-investing-sustainable In September, Michael Baldinger profiled as one of the top 10 Swiss stars in sustainable investing in Le Temps, while Chris Greenwald was profiled that same month in Ignites Europe on AM's stewardship strategy and ESG integration.  In addition, throughout the course of 2018, members of the Sustainable & Impact Investing team, have been featured or quoted on the topic of sustainability or the work of UBS-AM in this field in a wide range of publications, including the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Barrons, CNBC, Pensions Age, Nikkei, finews and IPE.
