KLP Eiendom is ISO 14001 certified (environmental management standard). This means that we strive to constantly perform better. Energy, water and waste are measured continuously and the results are used to develop the next year's management plan, such that this is an integrated system. Environmental questions are also part of the regular dialogue with tenants. Environmental considerations are an integrated part of KLP Eiendom's management systems, including for technical operations staff. All KLP Eiendom contracts with suppliers require compliance with KLP Eiendom's ethical guidelines, which include social and governance requirements as well.

All of our properties are included in our EMS called Optima. Energy, water and waste are monitored here.

Additional environmental targets include the number of properties that comply with BREEM standard for alternative transport (e.g. cycling facilities and electric vehicles), as well as proximity to public transportation. KLP Property's environmental targets can be found here: http://www.klpeiendom.no/om-klp-eiendom/milj-og-klima (Norwegian). The concrete quantitative targets are a part of KLP Eiendom's annual action plans.

Note Benchmark 2: In accordance with Norwegian law, KLP Property must report on the energy performance indicatior for all properties, in Norway. This is a grading system of energy use and type of energy source for the property.

Occupier engagement

All tenants receive a building guide, which includes sustainability information. In regular meetings with tenants, KLP Eiendom provides guidance on energy and water efficiency and waste minimization.

KLP Eiendom has developed a green lease agreement, which complements the existing lease. The green lease agreement is a cooperation framework between the tenants and KLP in terms of green management. It also specifies how the cost of environmental initiatives will be covered.

KLP Eiendom developed the green lease agreement during 2015. Piloting started in 2016. The first green lease agreement was signed in 2018, and we hope to sign at least two more agreements in 2019.

In Fornebu S, a shopping mall owned by KLP Eiendom (BREEAM-NOR Outstanding), we support a local environmental organisation for kids. The support consist of practical help with organizing activities, providing contact with stores that are interested in joining the activites, and promoting these activites on our website and social media accounts.
