In calendar year 2017, ICG surveyed its European, Asia-Pacific and North American holdings on their approach to the management of ESG issues. Amongst other questions, the survey asked whether the company had conducted an assessment of the business risks and opportunities associated with environmental and social issues, whether the company had adopted a sustainability policy, whether the company had assigned responsibilities for ensuring that it complied with the policy, whether the company had established a social and environmental issues management system, and whether the company had set performance improvement targets. The results of this survey will be used to establish a baseline for the companies in ICG’s investment portfolios, and to identify priority areas for improvement in the management of social and environmental issues. The response rate above reflects the percentage of companies that responded to ICG's annual ESG survey and have developed a sustainability policy, or equivalent. Of the portfolio companies that have not, ICG have engaged with a number of them to develop a policy in 2018.
