Portfoliomanagers, investment analysts and responsible investment staff at SPF Beheer are responsible for implementing the responsible investment strategy. Portfoliomanagers and investment analysts take the SRI policy into account when researching investment opportunities and write ESG reports on new firms to be selected into the portfolio. Additionally, in their regular meetings with companies they ask questions on the ESG policy of a company. When in doubt they consult the dedicated portfoliomanager responsible investing. The dedicated portfoliomanager responsible investing is responsible for setting policy, updating policy and the exclusion list, writing ESG reports on new firms to be selected in the internally managed portfolio's, performing DD on external managers to decide whether they are sufficiently fit to implement our clients' policy, monitoring implementation of the ESG policy, and liaising with the client, the participants, society in general and NGOs in particular. In the implementation of the policy she works together with portfoliomanagers and analysts.
The CFO and head of portfoliomanagement of SPF Beheer maintain oversight of the actions undertaken by portfoliomanagement and bring together the clients' wishes and the investment staff priorities. The risk and control department monitors compliance with the clients' exclusion list. Both compliance by SPF Beheer as well as compliance by external managers is monitored. The general affairs department ensures that communication, in general but also on the topic of ESG, between the board of the pension funds (who set the direction) and the asset manager runs smoothly.
For externally managed mandates, responsibility for the implementation of the SRI policy is outsourced to the external manager. SPF Beheer's investment committee decides, based on information provided by the dedicated responsible investment staff, whether external manager to be selected is sufficiently fit to implement our clients' SRI policy.
