Dana Investment Advisors approaches engagement by looking for avenues that are effective for our size. As a first step, we feel it is imperative to exercise, on behalf of our clients, the right as owners to actively vote proxies in the best long-term interests of shareholders (and independent of management or proxy-service recommendations). Secondly, we look for opportunities to add our voice to policy and regulatory conversations that we feel have implications for our clients. Finally, we look for opportunities to engage in dialogue with company management. Our participation is often by adding our voice or support to efforts undertaken by investor coalitions. But for a growing number of companies, we are engaging in bilateral conversations between our investment team and management, or in a leadership role with an investor coalition dialogue. We prioritize our engagement activities to companies we own in our concentrated strategies, and on the issues where we feel we can offer the greatest value by filling gaps in the investor coalitions or addressing topics where our internal resources are more fully developed.
