01.4. Provide a brief overview of your organization’s approach to engagement

A key component of our responsible investment policy is our engagement approach. Engagement allows the investor to play an active role with regard to ESG related issues, while fulfilling its fiduciary duty. We engage, together with other like-minded investors, with companies identified through the research and rating process described above. This engagement process is accomplished through the support of the same third party provider, who facilitates the dialogue between the investor pool and the target company with what we believe is the right level of objectivity, due-process, and diligence to maximize the power of the engagement process. Further, we believe that engagement within a large pool of like-minded investors can wield significantly more influence than we might be able to achieve alone. In our eyes, the ultimate goal of this process is to move companies from a place where expectations may be dominated by ESG related issues towards a place where they are more in line with the natural cycle of fundamentals that they and other market participants move through within competitive markets.
