The Master Trust’s Investment Portfolio operates in a unique and complex social-economic milieu. As an investor with a long-term investment horizon, the success of the Master Trust is linked to domestic and global economic growth, job creation and prosperity. Actions and activities that detract from the likelihood and potential of economic growth are not in the long-term interests of the Plans and their participants.  Therefore the  Board  expects  the  independent fiduciary  and  investment  managers  to  select  investments  after  a  careful investigation and analysis of the risks versus the long-term potential returns, including, within the financial constraints imposed by fiduciary responsibility, consideration of Environmental, Social and Governance risks (ESG). The Plans prefer but are not limited to investment managers and funds that integrate ESG policy criteria in their investment philosophy and security selection process.
