Taken from the SIPO - Investment managers are selected by the Foundation with consideration given to their beliefs and practices relating to ESG issues.  The Foundation may hold investments through pooled funds as an effective and cost efficient means of accessing some global markets.  For such funds the Foundation recognises that it will have no influence over the structure of the product or securities held in the fund.

The Foundation has been undertaking a thorough review of its current SIPO. It remains a work in progress as the Foundation educates itself around alternative strategies and managers. Impacts on the portfolio are explored and where possible improvements implemented.
A number of new initiatives have been incorporated into the responsible investment approach which will continually evolve. The Foundations asset consultant now provides quarterly ESG reporting evaluating the activities of Fund Managers. The objective being to understand a complete picture of the ESG attributes of all managers held in the portfolio. The Foundation has already moved to initally exclude tobacco from its Developed and Emerging Market Equity pooled funds. Further exclusions are currently under consideration.
