01.6. Provide a brief description of the key elements, any variations or exceptions to your investment policy that covers your responsible investment approach. [Optional]

I&P ESG methodology is inspired by CDC Group’s « ESG Toolkit for Fund Managers » enriched and adapted to African SMEs. It also integrates elements from IFC’s Performance Standards and Environmental Health and Safety Guidelines for risky sectors.

In addition to a company-by-company approach, I&P has defined key areas of focus and seek to implement, whenever possible, portfolio-level tools and approaches. In the social protection sector for example, a program has been set up to help partner companies implement or improve health insurance systems on a case by case basis while exploring the development of shared actions at the portfolio level. In the environmental sector, I&P assesses IPAE portfolio carbon emissions on a yearly basis, to identify the main sources of reduction or offset and implements specific actions to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy.
