PE 11. Proportion of companies monitored on their ESG performance

11.1. Indicate whether your organisation incorporates ESG issues in investment monitoring of portfolio companies.

11.2. Indicate the proportion of portfolio companies where your organisation included ESG performance in investment monitoring during the reporting year.

          Reduction of the carbon footprint growth (KPI: annual carbon emissions per Scope (Scope 1, 2 and 3)
        
          Implementation of energy efficient processes or equipment (% of energy saving)
        
          Implementation of waste management system and tracking of the percentage of waste which are effectively recycled
        

List up to three example targets of social issues

          Implementation of fair and inclusive healthcare systems for employees (KPI: % of employees covered by a health care system/ total number of beneficiaries)
        
          Representation of women among employees and key executives (KPI : % of female employees among employees/key exectutives, annual payroll for women employees)
        
          Decent job creation (KPI: direct employment growth during the holding period, average/minimum wage compared to local standards)

          Structuring of the governance: set-up of a board and other appropriate committees. KPI: Number of boards held every year, participation of an independent member
        
          Improvement of gender representation (KPI:% of female representation at the Board of Directors)
        
          Fight against corruption (KPIs : number of investees presenting a corruption risk - with high governance risk rating)

12.1. Indicate if your organisation tracks the proportion of your portfolio companies that have an ESG/sustainability-related policy (or similar guidelines).

ESG action plans are implemented in all the investees. However, we invest in small African SMEs and only the larger ones or companies with a specific focus on environmental/social issues have a duly formalized policy on ESG/sustainability issues and sometimes dedicated human resources.

In most cases, reporting on ESG issues consists in updating action plans and assessing progress made. Only a few companies produce a more detailed report.
