07.2. For the roles for which you have RI oversight/accountability or implementation responsibilities, indicate how you execute these responsibilities.

To provide the Group with clear leadership in our responsible investment approach, four of its Group Management Board (GMB) members – Alexander Friedman (Group CEO), Tim Rainsford, Dirk Spiegel and Elmar Zumbuehl have established the Group’s Responsible Investment Committee. This means there will be top level representation across key parts of the business – investments, distribution, legal, risk as well as operations.

The Committee decides on the Group’s strategic approach on responsible investment and is supported in its implementation by the Responsible Investment Working Group, which includes the team who developed and rolled out the Responsible Investment Framework in 2016.

Within our responsible investment implementation framework, our fund managers consider the materiality of ESG risks in relation to the worst rated companies based on 175 indicators collated and analysed by our appointed ESG specialist data provider. They will provide us with their investment rationale on whether those ESG factors represent a material risk to the investment case.
